Reflection of St. Cyr's Church. by ladymagpie

Reflection of St. Cyr's Church.

Another view of Stonehouse Parish Chuch called St. Cyr's. Pictured from the other side of the canal, this church has stood on this spot since the Saxon period, around the 11th century. The center part was enlarged between 1852 and 1855 whilst the tower retains 6 bells, the earliest dating from 1768.

As I may have mentioned before, both my Brother and Sister had their weddings here and I was confirmed in the church in the 60's.

Note that the graves stones now are outside the original old church walls, in fact the peaceful churchyard stretches along the canal-side. If you look closely to the trees top right your see many nests of a rookery.

Love it...I think why these pictures of OLD buildings strike such a chord for me is: they are still standing after all these years! Makes me feel young! lol

@claireuk Thanks Claire, that was my worry in case I end my life there, fortunately the canal is clay lined so the graveyard is dry.
