Just in front of my home, on top of the hill, is the Bristol and Gloucestershire Gliding Club. It's very active and when I sit on my patio in the sunshine I can see all the action as they soar and glide above me.
To gain the initial height they have a tug to tow them in the air and I captured it turning back after dropping of a glider. For you aircraft spotters its a Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee D, good old Goggle when I looked up the number. Oh, would I go in a glider, definitely not, if it hasn't got an engine I'll stay on the ground.
For a moment, I thought you might have posted a picture of an RC plane, but no, towing a glider would account for the cable behind.
Go up in a glider? Perhaps, couldn't be any worse that going up in a Piper Cub and the pilot teaches stunt flying. I was good until the barrel roll. I did get some very good shots when he opened the door.
