A Browned off Grasshopper. by ladymagpie

A Browned off Grasshopper.

I've just walked up the road to the little chapel graveyard where I met a lady tending her husbands grave. While we talked a while, sat on a bench, I spotted this little creature in the hedgerow beside me.

Now I must admit I always thought grasshoppers were green, well if they are I must have really browned this one off with my persistent camera clicking. The older lady, called Shirley, was also interested in my photography and we had plenty to talk about which took her mind off the sadness of her recent bereavement.
Wonderful close up! So many details captured!

Great close up. Love the green berries and plants. Fav I can't see his wings. Did you pluck them off so he couldn't escape your stories? LOL

Such an unusual grasshopper, Heather. It looks like a cross between a lizard and a grasshopper. You may have discovered a new species. :) Great contrast between the prehistoric grasshopper and the unusual looking flowers.

@kwind @quietpurplehaze @philcameron59 @barbarajdonnellan @congaree @quickshots @merleann @thresheg @virtualbrownie @rubicon @joeyc @gilbertwood @linnypinny @kathiecb @khawbecker Thank you all so much for your comments and FAV's. It turns out that it's a Rufous Grasshopper and not a Cricket as someone tried to tell me. I know it wasn't because the cricket season has stopped here in England (It's a sport).
