Drove up to this picturesque town this morning, a usually busy town with plenty of traffic and people wandering around looking at it's history. I suddenly realised that I was all alone, just like a ghost town and I began to wonder, was it something I said or had I left my onesie on, it was deserted.
This is the historic wool town of Painswick, known as ‘The Queen of the Cotswolds’, It's one of the finest and best-preserved Cotswolds settlements, nestling quietly in the hills and surrounded by some of Gloucestershire’s most delightful countryside.
Built of mellow Cotswold stone from the local quarry on Painswick Beacon, the town’s many beautiful buildings can be seen as you wander around its quaint and narrow streets. This is actually call New Street, but originates from the 14th century.
Enough of my tourist speak, this is a beautiful town but where was everyone, I'm sure I used body spray and deodorant this morning, never mind perhaps I have the town to myself. It really is best viewed with the black background.
A lovely capture of this little town. A fav for the capture and the story. Hopefully the locals have recovered from your visit and are out and about again. LOL.
Eerie, like some sort of science fiction film where everyone has disappeared. It did allow you to take a lovely photo of those wonderful buildings without all those pesky people in it , though,
Nice capture and commentary. The title reminded me of Oliver Goldsmith's "The deserted Village", but that was in Yorkshire and his comments more caustic.
lovely place eh
