Christmas morning and I decided to share a bit of the celebrations with my late Sister Mo. So donning my walking gear, the famous hat I headed for the climb up to wear her ashes were placed around the tree in the picture.
As you can tell from yesterday's offering, I'm not the fittest pensioner, so by the time I had climbed the steep hill toward Rodborough Fort, my lungs were gasping. Thankfully there was this old bench nearby where I was able to get me breath back and get a mince pie ready, wasn't going to carry the Christmas Turkey up there.
The phrase "Pie in the Sky", means that you can wish for something but you know it won't ever happen. There were many times in my Sisters illness that I wished she could be cured, but I knew it wasn't go to be.
Anyway, let's not get sad, the good thing about my visit was that she didn't want the mince pie - so I ate it for her, yummy.
A wonderful picture, a wonderful effort for your sister, and so wonderful you got to eat the mince pie after all. Made me laugh and cry, she was lucky to have you for her sister
@newbank@carolmw Thank you ladies for your comments, appreciated.
@linnypinny@quietpurplehaze@fugitivemoments@claireuk Thank you for your comments and FAV. I can be happy and sad often, but Mo only knew me as keeping her laughing all the time. I admit I ate the pie when I managed to get back to the car as I was out of breath, perhaps I should have left it for the wildlife - NAH I love mince pies.
Very moving narrative. I'm sure that even if you felt the need of more oxygen, you felt closer to your sister. It was worth the effort. Lovely capture.
Great textures and an excellent POV. And for the story that accompanies the photo, I'm in agreement with what several others have posted, it brought tears and smiles to me at the same time. Wonderful post, Heather.
I agree with all you say, Lin. Well done Heather. (I had a similar experience with my sister - 18 years ago now.)
