An Old English Church in the Trees. by ladymagpie

An Old English Church in the Trees.

What a beautiful day it is today, blue skies and lots of sunshine. It was therefore a day to get out and about doing my usual geocaching combine with a food shop and top the car with fuel.

I went to the village of Quedgeley which has been swallowed up into the suburbs of the City of Gloucester. Thousands of houses, supermarkets and industrial estates choke the area but there is one place they can't touch.

This is the Church of St. James, a medieval church from the 12th century. The actual site dates back to 1095. It is believed that King Henry XIII and Queen Anne Boleyn visited the church in the 1530's to take Mass.

Thankfully this little bit of history and peacefulness can't be replaced. View with the black background.
What a lovely structure and it just boggles my mind seeing a building with so much history. Thanks for sharing. Nice capture and POV.

Medieval churches have so much to appreciate, the stonework, the spires(or towers) the porches and the setting. This is lovely
