Forgotten Chocolates. by ladymagpie

Forgotten Chocolates.

Going back 60 years I remember walking along a road with my Mother and seeing a chocolate dispensing machine in an archway and wanted to stop. My Mother had other ideas and dragged me away to go shopping for school clothes.

I never forget that machine and although during my life I have seen many machines on stations or in cinemas entrances, I had never been back where I saw my first. That was until the other day when I spotted the exact place and the machine still in the old wall.

Obviously it was broken and empty of that forbidden fruits but it brought back such memories of so long ago. Do I forgive my Mum for dragging me away - Noooooooooooo, I just love chocolate, I wonder if it was working all those years ago.

Thank you all so much for your comments on my very old graveyard, I found out later that where I was scrabbling around among the graves lived grass snakes and poisonous adders. I think I would have died if I had seen one - I was in the right place.
A collectors item if ever there was.

Nicely captured! I have never seen one of these. I can remember gum and hard candy machines, but not a chocolate dispenser. Fortunately, I was finishing my lunch while reading this and ended with a peppermint pattie.

Years since I saw one of these Heather. My mother, for some reason, thought they were unhygienic so there was no chance of ever using one!

Oh great shot - there used to be a chocolate machine in York Railway Station and on special occasions I was allowed to get a some - I can still remember the joy pulling open the little draw to reveal the bar of chocolate. Happy Days!
