Mothers Watching. by ladymagpie

Mothers Watching.

So it's back to some normality and number 1 of my 4th year. I would like to thank you all for your kind words and I hope I reply to each of you individually. My following list went down by just 1, who I don't know, but the funny thing is that my picture made the trending page (Hope this is not a trend) and then onto the popular page.

Today's picture may seem just a passing gull, but as usual there is a story. My Mother was born in a fishing village on the south coast of Devon, a good old salt you might say. She spent the last 6 months of her life, aged 84, in a large hospital in the city center of Gloucester. The whole family visited her every day even though she was not aware we were there.

One Sunday we had visited her and returned home and almost immediately had a call from the hospital to say please return as she had passed away. Myself and my late Sister arrived at the same time and spent an hour at her bedside. On leaving the hospital we both stopped dead at the complete silence outside, it was always noisey with the city, but not today other than a flock of seagulls circling over the hospital squawking loudly.

We both knew that Mother had returned to her roots with the seagulls. Today, every time I see a lone gull circling me and squawking loudly I think it's Mother watching over me. Thanks for reading my story.

Nice capture and great story. When Melody's grandfather passed away as we were just starting the burial we heard a train whistle in the distance. We all stopped and just looked at each other because he had worked on the railroad for many years

Lovely story and beautiful shot. My Mum always said she was going to come back as a blackbird, but we don't have blackbirds in Australia, so whenever the currawongs visit, I think of my Mum as they are black and white. The currawongs and kookaburras are my favourite birds in Australia.

A terrific story that I can relate to too! When my mother was dying the moon kept popping up everywhere and even now she watches over us when we (my sister too) go to different places or do something crazy :)
