A Mighty Tree by ladymagpie

A Mighty Tree

I've been out and about this morning before the thunder storms rolled in. I was out to find a geocache which really tested my age and ability and if my family knew what I was up to, then it was another time to be grounded by the children.

Look closely at the base of the tree and you can see a large opening, the container was hidden in there. the problem was that the tree was on a very steep bank and I somehow had to get down the bank without falling into an abyss, glad there were no cameras around.

I found the container but it was full of rainwater making everything sodden, so couldn't sign the log book.
A very beautiful capture.

There are some days where its better to see where the cache is then to find it. Great tree.

@byrdlip I can't claim a cache find until I sign the logbook, unfortunately the log was soaking so I took a photograph of the container lid as proof for the owner.

I suppose you can't claim in not being able to sign? Sounds a fun type of activity but one would need to take care with ankles and knees!

A lovely capture and I really enjoy the processing/framing. Let's be careful out there, though - I have a no falling rule, please remember :)

Lovely capture. It looks like an illustration. Geocaching sounds like fun. I wonder if there's something like that in my neck of the woods..

@skstein Hi Sandy, there are over 2,000,000 geocaches all over the world so there are bound to be some close to where you live. I have now found 755 and they are all within 20 miles of my home.
