I was in the pet shop the other day when the young assistant showed me this cute creature. How much is that I asked and she told me it was £20. That can't be right I said, I'll offer you £1.05 and take it away.
She gave me a stare saying that's not much is it, well I said it is a Guinea Pig isn't it and that's what its worth in old money. She was young and obviously never heard of the old money system and what a Guinea was.
I followed on by saying, “You couldn't get many sausages from that tiny pig when if you buy a big farm pig you'll get many more”. She quickly put it it back into its cage saying you can't eat Guinea Pigs can you, she then realised that I was laughing especially when I explain what a guinea was.
As I left I shouted out that I'll be back to see if you have any Guinea Fowls, you can eat them.
Keep smiling, oh and the white flakes were shredded paper as bedding.
That’s inflation in a big way Heather….£20 sounds very pricey but there again it’s a sweet little pig…used to like guinea pigs they talk to you. Our kids had them but of course who looked after them…yes you guessed me!
