If you can remember I said that where I live is called The Five Valleys and I compared it to a starfish with the tentacles sticking out. Well yesterday after I did a quick shop I popped up to one of the commons to look at a view I know well.
This is the Brimscombe Valley that moves eastwards out of the main town of Stroud. Each valley, or tentacles was formed by a river which was used buy the cloth makers to drive their mills. This valley has several, and I did work at one of them but in a new office block, the business made loose-leaf binder mechanisms’.
Look closely and you can see on the right the main railway snaking its way up the valley, heading to Swindon and onto London. A very busy and popular line which I've used several times myself. There used to be many small stations along here where a little steam train used to stop to pick up the locals, it only travelled up the valley and back again, before going on to the county city of Gloucester. (That train has long gone into history)
I can see the home of my best friend in the bottom left of the picture, she has since moved to the strange village below mine and is my number one garden expert.
