Major Devastation from Night Storms

I thought it was about time I ventured out and started capturing items in my village. At the weekend we had 2 terrible storms roaring through the county causing major destruction within the village.

Both storms ravaged the village during the night and I had already had to go up the street at midnight to retrieve the recycling bin that I had put out for the early morning collection.

During the night the wind howled and the rain hammered down onto my bungalow roof. At one point I thought the tiles above my bedroom were lifting and I could hear the TV aerials and the satellite disc rattling in the wind. I didn't sleep well and looked at my bedside clock several times during the night.

In the morning I ventured out to put the bins away and looked for any damage on my home and patio. It was time to open the front blinds when I was confronted with such devastation. Part of a road sign lay in the front garden, just below the bird feeders. It had been ripped apart before being thrown to the ground.

Now I might have stretched my imagination, just a little perhaps. This was a plastic sign that had been tied to a lamppost outside my home, and it wasn't a proper road sign, but there to remind drivers that 30mph was fast enough in the village. In fact it was the only damage I saw in the main street, but it could have been a major disaster if someone had roar along the road at 35mph couldn’t it.

Keep smiling
Obviously Storm Barra was not heeding to the 30 mph !! and got rid of the sign !!

Well thankfully you go away lightly Heather….it could have blown through your window. That sign must have been speeding!

Sounds horrendous. Glad you got away from the storm unscathed.

We are having summer storms here and thunder every day for the last 4 days. Hot and humid here though.

It's good that you took shelter. The weather is getting more and more dynamic.
