Last Friday I escaped from my bungalow prison and went out for a drive. As I said before I ended up completing 4 geocaches but got lost even though I had a map on my phone.
It wasn't until I came alongside of the might River Severn that I knew where I was. I pulled over to get a couple of captures and realised how dangerous the river was. It was flowing very fast since the heavy rain of the last few days, and as this river starts in the Welsh hillsides there was plenty of water still to come.
The whole area looked very grey with no colour from the sky to the river. You could see many whirlpools and it's not surprising that there are not any boats on this section. In fact they had to build a 16.5 mile canal to bypass this area and bring shipping up to Gloucester docks.
For those who follow Strictly Come Dancing, I decided to award this river a Seven after it's name Severn.
Ooh , the mighty River Severn - so much water as it gathers more water on its way to the sea - I must pop down to Atcham to see how it is faring there - usually both Shrewsbury and Ironbridge feel the force of this river as it makes its way down from the Welsh Hills ( Very generous us Welsh at sharing our Water !! )
Quite frightening when you see rivers so wide as this…the power of water is massive….had to laugh at @beryl comment….sometimes it’s good to share but not always!!
