Another 'Cathar Castle', though primarily for tourist purposes. Arques had no significant role in the crusade against the Cathars, and this building was built by the French victors in their own style at the end of the 13th Century. It is apparently architecturally significant and embodies the principal requirements of a 'Cathar castle', namely a fortified keep, surrounding battlements, and a Visitor Centre with restrooms, café and gift shop.

It looks different from the others Tim, less stronghold more victory token. I doubt it would have seen off a determined attack, though the gift shop might have proven to be some distraction to its assailants.
