Peyrepertuse vista

Peyrepertuse is really two castles lying along a ridge. This photo was taken from the higher and later castle, built by the French after the Cathar war. In the distance, top right, you can just see Quéribus. This was frontier country, and the castles control the most northern passage into the Corbières from the Agly valley.

Part of my ongoing Cathar castles project - click on the tag to see others.
I knew this was yours before I scrolled down to yout name. We ran out of time to stop at Peyrepertuse, but enjoyed our stroll around Queribus last year. Brings back happy holiday memories
