How lucky we are ! I realised that today, sitting in the sun by the pool, in a large garden outside a house too large for two people and a dog. And the house is in a wealthy country with an excellent universal health system and competent leaders. We are confined to our home, but can leave to buy food and drink, to access health facilities or to help family members, and also to take exercise or walk the dog, provided we carry a signed and dated standard form giving the reason for our outing. So Jasper may not look too happy, but today he had two walks off the lead in the woodlands, 90 and 60 minutes, and then a short walk around the block before bedtime.
Only problem is, so many other people have similar ideas. Today I talked, albeit at a distance, to 4 dog walking couples, our neighbour 3 times and a gardener, as well as being passed by several hikers coming down from the mountains and a family of mountain bikers, flying down the road screaming at each other, and leaving, in my not-yet-fevered imagination, a slipstream of coronavirus. So tomorrow we will look for more secluded places, or go earlier. We are supposed to limit our interactions to no more then 5/day.
I think people have been taking advantage of the exercise exemption and I hope it isn't withdrawn. Mrs L heard on the radio that access to all our wonderful beaches has been forbidden, so I guess too many people were taking their exercise there.
It was rather weird at Super U this morning - a long crocodile of folk with 'chariots' waiting patiently outside, 2 metres apart, to be summoned. The numbers controlled so that nobody had to wait at a checkout... the only thing on ration was pasta (2 packets per customer) - and they had loo rolls!
@vignouse Jealous of the "loo rolls." That is the one thing that is sold out everywhere here. We're good for a bit, but my poor son in Boston didn't heed the warnings.
Keep safe...
