I wanted to ask if the ears are notched because she is a spayed stray or injury?

Oh, I had a cat just like her in my twenties ....sweet

She is so beautiful. Fav!

@gardenfolk It's because she's a spayed stray. Her left ear tip is cropped, which is a usual sign in many areas here. You can see it from a distance and have no need to catch her again. In addition she has a U-shaped cut in both ears, which I never saw before. Maybe that's a sign of the responsible organization or shelter or the vet? I don't know... In some areas, they use a notch in the ear for marking, but those notches are much bigger to be visible from afar. I guess it's a kind of "signature" in Picasso's ears.
Have a nice day :)

@momamo Oh, really? That's wonderful, it's great to have cats in your life. Hopefully the photo brought back only good memories and didn't make you sad, because your cat is no longer beside you. I hug you ♥

@lastrami_ I didn't know if one notch was for spaying and one was from a fight? They do notch an ear on spayed strays here and also suppose to put an ink tattoo dot on owners cats after spay. My Katniss was a stray for at least six months but I didn't know that. She was friendly but I thought she had a home. She was pregnant and did bring me one of her kittens. After nursing, we got her spayed, shots and microchipped and I found a home for her kitten. Three years later (I cannot believe it) I finally talked her into wearing a collar too. :)

@motherxmind Many thanks :)

@gardenfolk Wow, what a great story about Katniss :) She totally trusts in you ♥
My own cats have also a microchip for identifying.

By the way: I'm absolutely no friend of collars :( Many cats are strangled by the collar and die, when they get stuck.
Even the so-called safety collars with a safety clasp (which should open in dangerous situations) are not safe enough.
They may work well in most situations, but they are non-reliable. If it opens 499 times out of 500, and one time it doesn't ... than it's one time too much. If the cat is hanging in the branches and the clasp is tilted or above a branch, it sometimes doesn't open. I don't want to put my cats in jeopardy. Never ever. Sorry for my harsh words, no offense.

@lastrami_ No worries. Thanks for your advice. I did buy Katniss a collar that was not the traditional safety clasp and as expensive and beautiful as it was, my intuition said no. I can use it for my dog if I add a name tag. Katniss does climb the fence and trees and rubs up against everything. I liked the idea of an outside sign she has a home though she really only goes in our yard or two yards behind us. The collar is embroidered with name and phone and does easily giveaway and open. I will take your comment under advisement. Her safety is a number one concern so I will not leave my house until she is in the house and she come in before dark.❤️

@kchuk Thank you, I'll tell her :) She is such a cute one, I really love her. Too bad I called her Picasso – but first I didn't know she's a girl. Have a nice day!
