This is from June. I wanted to upload a photo of Joshua, because he's at the vet and I think of him. Probably he was neutered today, and they keep him one day under observation.
(Little Picasso is grooming herself in background)
@gardenfolk Many thanks for commenting. I reckon, they keep the wild ones there over night because of the anesthesia. It's possible to let them wake up quickly with an injection, but most vets here let the cats and dogs sleep it off. (Maybe a question of cost? No second injection and less painkillers...)
My own cats are swaying and tottery for hours after waking up from a narcosis.
@lastrami_ How many cats are your own beside the wild ones? They are all lucky to have you. I tell Katniss every day how much I love her...and my little Sophie too! So thankful I got her back.
@gardenfolk I'm sure they both know how much you love them ♥ Is there a photo of Sophie in your wonderful gallery? At first sight I didn't find her.
Beside the wild ones I have four: my beloved tomcat Pollux and three girls (Nefi, Wilma and Mietzi). Or should I better say five? There's a new arrival, and yesterday I let him in. Not sure what to do... my husband is not enthusiastic ;) Have to say, he has some allergies, including cat's saliva. But not all cats cause trouble for his airways.
The new one is a young castrated tomcat, who joined the wild cats 3 weeks ago. But he is not so shy. He has a microchip, and I found out he belonged to the local shelter. He discovered a hole in the protective grid and escaped from there. (They know he's at my place and were happy to get good news. Two cats escaped, the other one is still missed.) Oh, sorry, so much text ;)
@lastrami_ Please check the tag Sophie-belle to see the photos of my little 5 pound schnauzer. I had terrible allergies to cats growing up so they were off my radar. I don't know if Katniss is different but I am not allergic to her and stick my face in her fur. Glad the tom is microchipped! Was this the one not neutered? Does the shelter want him back? Thank you for taking care of the kitties in your neck of the woods. We use to have lots of feral around but I have not seen any lately. In fact, one of the baby daddies to Katniss's kitten was unfortunately killed by a car. It was awful and the car didn't even stop. My neighbor tried to warn the car and witnessed it. :(
@gardenfolk Thank you, now I know Sophie is not a cat ;) My mistake, sorry.
I'm sad to hear about the kitten's dad's accident :'( The same here: there are people who collide with animals and don't care! Unbelievable, but true.
It's so wonderful that you're not allergic to Katniss. Maybe she has less allergens, or maybe you are desensitized a bit more?
The new tomcat was born wild and found by attentive residents. They informed the local shelter, and the animal welfarists caught him and his siblings.
After three weeks he escaped with another cat. They were glad he is fine, and to my sursprise, they don't want him back. Now he is sitting beside me on the desk :)
