The hedgehogs are pleased when the cats don't eat up (if there's nothing left, they get their own dinner, of course). I don't feed them in summer, mostly start in late October.
@lellie Many thanks for your visit and the wonderful comment, Lesley. Glad to hear that your sister-in-law is an animal lover and takes care for the hedgehogs :) I don't have much experience with them ... But we had a hedgehog for three year, he had no spines! He looked more like a rat than like a hedgehog
(sorry, should I say "it" instead of "he"?)
@robz Thanks a lot for your kind comment. No, they would never try that. First they are curious and get very close – but then they get in touch with the spines and decide to keep a bit more distance ;) But sometimes they eat by turns from the same bowl.
Years ago, I had three tomcats and a hedgehog without spines (nobody could explain that). It was no problem, they all lived together in harmony, no danger for the hedgehog.
@lastrami_ That's all so interesting, and so strange to have a hedgehog with no spines! I had always imagined them to be a bit like our echidnas, but looking at this photo i can see they are nothing alike. Thanks so much for the info. Cheers Rob
great capture and timing
