For the first time in 10 months, I almost did not take a photo today. It's still dark and raining outside and I've had too many unsucessful shots in that weather this week to work up the creative energy to try. But then it bothered me tonight, so I took some photos of my daughter and her boyfriend (who turned 22 today) in front of the fire. Even though you can't see Gary, this was the best of the bunch.
lol - I love your tag about seeking cooperative models. Let me know if you find any - as Pickle is not the most cooperative model either. Who can blame her though - she's 2:) This is a lovely warm shot with a very thought-provoking feel to it. Just love this scene.
@pwallis I'll take your 2 year old any day! First of all, she's adorable, and at 2 they don't really fight the photos. I literally resorted to blackmail to get this "break all the rules, but desperate" shot. When no one would pose for me, I looked around the room and Jules was the prettiest thing I saw. I snapped a whole bunch of flash photos of her hiding her face or making funny faces at me and threatened to post one. I wouldn't have, but she didn't know that. Plus the flash in her face photo shoot was pretty funny and put her in a good mood.
LOL unless someone knows these "models" (pointing my finger straight at Gary) you'd never know they were uncooperative. This is a really great shot. Looks like a candid shot. I guess after they stopped fighting the camera and just ignored it you could find the perfect photo. The warm firelight is lovely. I also like that Julie and Gary are at the edge, almost incidental next to the fire. I hope they like how it turned out. I sure do.
I saw this last night, but I was using the iPhone and I wanted to see it bigger for full effect. :-) I think it looks very romantic, and the compositions great.
This is actually a vey nice shot from the perspective of seeing the fire. Even though yiou can only see a little of Gary it is still a nice shot because you get the feel of the moment
This is a wonderful shot, Laurie. I'm glad it worked out for you! I don't have any willing models myself unless my little nieces and nephews are around.
:-)
