Shy Dixie by lauriehiggins

Shy Dixie

I'm not a fan of football and usually avoid Superbowl parties, but this year it was a family event at the in-laws so I went. The game made no sense and seemed to upset everyone by the end, because the Patriots made a whole bunch of bad mistakes.

Instead of watching the game, I practiced shooting some very low light inside photos. This shot of my husband's sister and brother-in-law's dog was my favorite. She's a coon hound of some sort from a Southern rescue. My camera brought out a different side from her usually boisterous personality and this photo best captured her puzzlement about what I was doing.
She looks a little concerned . LOL what a good detailed shot

I'm kind of seeing a "come hither" look here! you clearly brought out the best in her. Nice job in low light. I always try to not use flash when I can, even though its usually a happy accident if it works out. :)

Lol! The only thing that could pull me away from the game would be my camera! ;) I hope you had fun even if your not into football! Great capture of Dixie! That low light is tricky stuff!

LH--Great minds again! I went to my friends Super Bowl Party and laid on the carpet and took photos of their Lucca! I may post her shot this week! Shy Dixie looks like such a sweetheart!
Hope you have a terrific week! :-)

This is a superb shot - maybe it's also that "i'm tired and all these people are making too much noise for me to sleep" look! Makes me laugh when my Mum's dogs look knackered! She looks like a sweet dog - nice catch

Love the look on her face, Great shot!

She's a cutie, but she does look cute. Maybe she's worried you won't capture her good side.

She's adorable! She looks slightly concerned about your camera - but it brings out an interesting side of her personality.

Cute little girl.

she's adorable, but certainly not a 'ham' yet! Lots of upsetness in NE for sure!

Aww, so cute. She looks a little suspicious of you. Great shot. Bravo!

What a lovely looking pup (and a lucky pup to have been rescued).
I'm not the only person to find the Super Bowl confusing! yay

She's so cute! I bet every side of her is the good side!

Wonderful portrait

Nice job on that Laurie. We watched the Patriots lose too. They didn't play very well and I was glad I wasn't in Tennessee.

She certainly does look a bit leery about what you're doing, doesn't she? It's an absolutely adorable portrait, though. Great job!

Yes, I saw that same look in my orange cat's eyes when I photographed him om Michael...again. He was very suspicious because the last time I used flash. Very nice portrait. :-) Sorry that you had to go to a Superbowl party.

@5unflow3r You know that I would much rather have been playing on 365 than watching football, right? Sheesh, now I'm behind again and all for the sake of a losing football game. At least the food and company was good.

Very nice portrait. I think she's confused as to why you're not watching the game like everyone else is.

she looks very thoughtful and calm, huh...you just bring out the best in people and animals i guess.

It came out really nice. I like the subtle lighting.

great companion for your sister-in-law and brother-in-law ... she looks very contented in a reserved sort of way. time well spent on a super bowl day ... ;-)

Looks like Dixie doesn't know what to think about that thing your pointing at her! I hope you had fun at your party!

She looks so sweet, what a great capture! I watched the game to the end...what a nailbiter! For my boss, it was fantastic...he was there. Unfortunately it did not guarantee me one week of good mood. Bummer...

very nice capture - love the expression! I'm not a fan of football...my tradition is to watch the Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet channel!
