The second challenge in Jerry Plume's "One Night Stand" week was to take a low light photo. We went to a big birthday party for one of my husband's friends and I took a ton of photos. This was the only one that turned out at all decent. This photographic challenge surely is taking me out of my comfort zone, but I think that is the point. I believe that is a bottle of Irish Whiskey, but I did not imbibe, so I can't be sure.
LH, you are doing an awesome job with the JP challenge. I love the focus on the shot glasses! I hope the birthday boy took aspirin and drank a gallon of water after the party! :-)
@lorihiro The JP challenge is ALOT harder than I thought it would be! I usually just bring my camera with me everywhere and shoot whatever catches my fancy. To have an assignment is both a challenge and fun. I never dreamed this would be my photo of the day! It's just not my usual style or subject matter.
And getting out of your comfort zone is what's important imo. It's easy to take the same kind of shot all the time. Exploring and advancing in other areas is what helps you grow.
I, for one, would never have thought that I could take as many B&Ws as I have. They have just come together as I go out on a daily basis. I find myself "thinking" in B&W whereas a year and a half ago, many of the shots wouldn't have happened.
Love the symetry and focus in the glasses Laurie - they came out crystal clear. The bokeh in the background is lovely too. Great low light photo!! The challenge is certainly harder than I imagined as like you I just snap away - sometimes have an idea - but mostly not - so this is making me work!!
Great shot, Laurie (no pun intended!). I don't know how you find the time to do the challenges ... I never even look at them. What am I doing wrong?? I really need to become better at managing my time, I guess. :-)
Baltimore? Does Steve's friend collect Planet Hollywood glasses? I like the low light situation. You captured these glasses quite crisply, considering that challenge.
Lol! Those shot glasses are bringing it all back! :P I love that place! The one out here went out of business! Sounds like a fun night! I hope the next day was better for you than it was for me! :)

Nice job on this.
