How Many Inch Worms Can Fit on the Seed of a Dandelion?
Macro Day in the One Night Stand Challenge proved to be a big challenge indeed. I do not have a macro lens, but I wanted to remain true to a real macro photo. Today I learned about "free-lensing" and spend about an hour lying in my front yard taking photos of the tiniest things I could find. Honestly, I couldn't even see this inch worm with the naked eye. I was just trying to photograph the spent dandelion head and noticed this little guy as I tried to focus.
Free-lensing is tricky, but it was fun to play with it. Basically, you just carefully take your lens off your camera, turn it around and then hold it backwards against your camera. The only way to focus is by moving your camera in and out until the image looks clear.
@orangecrush I would have never heard of free-lensing either if it weren't for your challenge. I think of it as macro for the low budget, experimental crowd.
Oooooo, I hate this one. It's creepy, but what a perfect job you've done with your free-lensing, which I also had never heard of before. Your photo looks like it was quite the challenge. Good job!
