Cape Cod Bay has giant tidal swings of about 12 feet. At low tide, the Bay empties and you can walk for what feels like miles before you hit water. Just 12 hours later at high tide, this entire scene is under water. It's cool because every time you go to the beach, it looks different.
Beautiful shot! I love how the tides change everything. In fact I love how the sea is always different and you never know what it's going to be like and what you will find on the beach!
I just love having huge tide differences so we can really enjoy low tide and see some many things! I follow a woman on this site who lives on the Gulf of Mexico, and she's always amazed at the difference in the tides here - she said there is only about a few inches difference between high and low tide, as the gulf is spread out over such a wide area. I just can't imagine that! This is a perfect Cape shot!
I've always loved that about the Bay - so cool how a whole other world is revealed at low tide. I always chuckle at the tourists that don't realize we have such a tidal range and come back to find their wide-open, empty spot on the beach was that way for a reason. ;-)
