These once belonged to my Grandfather, and today it would have been his birthday - he would have been 130 years old. My mum was only just recently given these & they are the only possessions of his that my mum has.....they are wedges/chisels for cutting sandstone, of which he used to get from a quarry near his house. I never knew my grandfather, he died when my mum was only 4 years old, but I do remember all the sandstone that used to be around my Nan's house, that he had quarried/cut himself with these very tools. To actually hold them in my own hands was something very special to me....it helped me to feel really connected to him.
