I went back to my hometown for the weekend, so of course had to get a shot of the church that has great significance for my family, on my mum's side.
My mum & all her siblings were baptised at St Peter's. My mum & dad were married here, along with most of my aunties & uncles. All my cousins & my brother & I were also baptised here. My Nan's funeral was held at this church, as was one of my Aunties who passed away at a young age, and they are both buried in the cemetery attached to the church, along with my Grandfather, who died well before I was born. PLUS this is the church where I was married almost 30 years ago. So yeah, it is a special place for my family & I.
Building of the church commenced in 1821, and was completed in 1823. It was the only building in the township for many years. The clock was added in 1839 & the tower was extended in the early 1870's. It is still used for services today, and has a vibrant Anglican school attached to the church as well.
