This is what we were meant to be doing for the next 3 weeks, tripping around in our van. Our original plan was to head to South Australia to The Flinders Ranges & then where ever the road took us....but South Australia closed its border to NSW quite some weeks ago due to the covid cases in Sydney (at that point, there were no cases outside of Sydney), so we had a change in plan. We thought we'd head up to northern NSW, but then parts of northern NSW started to have cases & certain areas went into lockdown....we were starting to think that it might not be a good idea to go anywhere & probably best to stay home....then the whole state of NSW is in lockdown, so we definitely weren't going anywhere!
So here I am dreaming of what should have been....and have decided that for the next little while that the lockdown continues, I will share photos of previous trips in our van, mixed in with some shots from my garden/yard as well 😁
This shot was from Easter weekend at Geehi Flats on the Swampy Plain River, in The Kosciuszko National Park....beautiful spot!
Lockdown can be such a frustrating time. I started a project during our first lockdown to document the photos on my external drive. Many had not been written up, and it has been a voyage of discovery doing that. I like this nice secluded spot on an earlier trip.
This is a lovely shot. I feel for you although as Pat said, you aren't going to have to fight with travel agents over refunds etc. Unfortunately I can't see this dreaded lockdown ending any time soon 😢
@terryliv I feel for the poor buggers who are stuck in NSW & cant get home to both QLD & VIC.....yet NRL footballers & families are allowed in? Something not right with that
@leggzy I agree to a point. Just listening to a story about a family from a cattle station in Qld whose young son has been stuck at his grandparents place in NSW since 19 July (I think) and now can't get back to Qld. Sydney et al went into lockdown on 26 June. What rock are you living under not to predict what would happen to the borders once the virus spread? Why would you leave your son in NSW when the chances of border closures would be close to 100%. People don't take any responsibility for their decisions.
You're plans will eventually happen- it just takes time for the virus to run its course- just like every other virus has to. Unfortunately this one is rather hard to predict but it will eventually pass. Hang in there!
@terryliv I guess it depends where in NSW the person is/was. At first the QLD border was only closed to Greater Sydney, and I guess people thought they had time, especially travellers in vans etc. Then bang, it leaked out of Sydney, by people doing the wrong thing (lots and lots of different stories on this - some are unbelievable), and then the border is shut completely. We are hearing of people stuck in caravan parks who are willing to do the 2 weeks quarantine, but still they are locked out & can't get HOME. Everyone has a different story/circumstance. I can understand travellers getting caught out, but not so much the story you have shared. Lets hope that those trapped are able to get home soon. I know of a Doctor who was to move to QLD to start work there, but he delayed going when the border first got closed to all of NSW (which I think was the Armidale/Byron lock downs at that time), thinking that it would re-open once that settled down. But it hasn't reopened, so I guess he's ultimately lost his job he was meant to start.

Our neighbours had to return recently too as they travel often in their caravan.
