Rescued

I found this little chap in the garden this morning, looking very small and a bit dopey. He didn't run away when I got close and didn't even curl up. We put him in a box and took him up to our vets practice wher they treat all wild animals for free, Later in the day I recieved a call from the nurse. They had removed several large ticks, fed him some chicken and he was looking okay but too small to be released as he wouldn't make it through the winter. He was sent to a lady in Felixstowe who is a hedgehog minder and will see him safely through hibernation. Next Spring she will contact us so we can release him back into our garden. How cool is that?
Cute shot!!

I think that's a brilliant story. I would never have thought of taking a hedgehog to the vet's.

Lovely picture, and a very happy story! found a young hedgehog in our garden a few nights ago. Sadly, by the time I fetched the camera, he had continued on his travels. hope to see him again!

@todimf @busylady @gerbilwrangler Thank you. I thought this was a very happy outcome. I don't know about other areas but all vets here treat wild animals FOC. I think they are great,
@catherinep If you want to encourage hedgehogs leave out a saucer of cat biscuits or chicken flavoured cat food. We have two cats who get fed outside the kitchen door and the hedgehogs regularly clear up what they leave.

Lovely light that has picked up the texture of his spines. Hope he's ok.
