Butterfly in the Zoo by leonbuys83

Butterfly in the Zoo

Rotterdam Zoo also has a tropical butterfly garden with lots of South-American butterfly species
Great detail. It seems that there are two focus areas: One on the butterfly head and antennae and another one on the wood where the hole is?

@hjv thank Hubregt, due to the angle of the lens the head of the butterfly and wood are the same distance away, so both in focus. .Found it strange at first too but this seems to be the only explanation as I did nothing more than raw conversion with this shot.

@leonbuys83 That must be the explanation. The blurry part of wood between the head and hole is confusing, but then we need to translate to 3D. I was just curious, I like the shot with the great detail.

fantastic macro shot... I've often noticed the dual focus on macro shots... always because of the equal distance... often find it happening with pics of bugs or insects on blades of grass, or leaves, where the grass or leaf also has a section in focus.
