Darn Light !!! I am never happy.. whine, whine,whine

Okay great outing with the photo club. Clear skies but really too much daylight left to capture what I envisioned. Guess I need the harvest moon or tomorrows moon(good luck with that one with the forecast). You (I) couldn't even see it at first, can you find it? As it got later you could see it more and more.
I was like A.D.D. photograher. Now I'll go here, here, here, and here.... hope to share more pics but this was the first and other than a tiny straightening it's SOOC. Very rare for me, I love to play with them in lightroom....

you were early, it wasn't to rise until after 6:30. however, this is a great skyline shot of the monument. kinda like a Michael Elliott shot!

Fabulous capture. If you had used a higher ISO or lower exposure time would it have darkened it a bit?

@summerfield no I keep forgetting to chance the time on the camera because of daylight saving so it's 18 minutes past the rise. It's there but very faint to the right of the Capitol dome. You are too kind comparing this to one of Michael's. Thank you Vicki

@lesip I meant a lower shutter speed and after seeing the other shot this morning I have a better understanding of your dilemma. I think you overcame the hurdle beautifully in both shots !!
