Have been meaning to visit Assateague Island all summer but never made it till today. Got lucky and found these two (actually three) spending some time at the water. The island is home to lots of wild ponies. Signs are posted you are not to feed, tease or get nearer then 10 feet from them because they will bite.

Lovely capture - saw it on the pp! fav. We have an island in Canada with horses too, but it is protected from people - Sable Island. Thanks for sharing :) I never heard of this place & checked it out online afterwards, including other horse pictures.
So awesome! Lovely shot... when I was a child, I read the wonderful stories by Marguerite Henry about Chincoteague and Assateague Island and the wild ponies that lived there (Misty of Chicoteague, etc.). I am so enjoying seeing this shot and learning that the ponies are still there. Fav! :)
