Reach For IT

Before my son and daughter in law left for Australia we all went to the zoo. The only problem was we got there at 3 and it closed at 4. I had no time to wait for events to happened as I practically ran to be able to try and see the whole zoo. Needless to say I didn't really care for any of my shots. Today was another story hopping on the muni and arriving at 11am with no time limit. We don't have any giraffes, polar bears or penguins at the National Zoo in Wash. DC so I was really enjoying myself.

The beach was practically across the street from the zoo so I had to walk and take in the view. It was an awesome cloud day.
Giraffes are fantastic, the trees are interesting too with some kind of pattern on the trunk. Where in Australia are they headed Leslie?

@bella_ss they left on Dec. 25th and were in Northern Beaches by Cairns, Sydney for New Years and a wedding, Melbourne for a couple days and arrived in New Zealand yesterday. They will be home on Thursday.

Lovely shot, no wonder their necks are so long they have to stretch so much to feed. ha ha.

@lesip It sounds like a great trip, hope they enjoyed it here although they chose the hottest time. Glad they didn't catch any cyclones :)

Fabulous timing to get two for one! This is a really great image, Leslie.

It sounds like your children should have had a fabulous time. How exciting to be in Sydney for New Year's eve!

Beautiful capture.

I like the way you have captured the giraffe in the background in the same pose.

Nicely captured.

Nice. Is the closer one eating bark?

@bill_fe I think he was scratching but could be wrong because they have covered the trunks with some kind of mesh to protect them I believe.

This is such a fabulous shot, Leslie. You captured such amazing detail and two of them at the same time stretching up. We are so lucky to have giraffes at our Sacramento Zoo. So cool that the beach is close and you got to go there as well. FAV

@lesip Oh, thanks Leslie.

Fabulous shot. My favorite zoo is the St. Louis Zoo (it's amazing and free). But, we like to go to different zoos to see the animals they don't have. Haven't been to the National Zoo in over 25 years. We'll have to try to get there next summer.
