The "Shetland Bus" memorial in Scalloway celebrating the work of Norwegian and British agents crossing the Northen North Sea during the Second World War. 17th May is Norway's national day and celebrated in Shetland.
Beautiful memorial. The new blocks of flats just across the street from us got a new street address a while back. They had the same street name as where I live, but the road there is now called Shetlands-Larsens vei. Leif Larsen lived close by.
@helstor365 that’s good to hear that the memory is strong over in Norway as well. I have a book about Larsen’s exploits in the war and it is one of my favourites.
I would go to the Castle Cafe to get UK’s best fish and ship to celebrate 🇳🇴
