I have always thought that people who live or have families on Shetland should be subsidised. It seem unfair to me that you all should have to pay full price for what is, in effect, a lifeline service.
@sgtpepper Island residents get a discount on the passage, not the cabin though, but the kids are not classified as residents anymore. Can be cheaper flying if you get the right flight.
