After the arrival of the oil industry in Shetland in the 70's there was a shortage of housing. In this picture all bar one of the houses have been built since then. Those at the back that generally have the non-red roofs were built for Bristow Helicopters to house the pilots and their families. Still known by many people as the Bristow Houses. Those at the front and also the wooden ones are more recent from the late 90's. Still a major housing shortage on the Islands which keep the property prices relatively high.
