The biggest crew ship to have visited Lerwick deposited 5000 passengers in town and a good proportion of the 1800 crew. English certainly wasn’t the main language in the street today.
I wonder how does your local shops and cafe's cope with such an influx......we also get cruise ships...mainly in Falmouth, but sometimes upriver to Fowey.......such a small town for so many people.....although there are usually organised coach trips to other local attractions......not like that for your Island I guess?
@cutekitty There are organised trips North and South for the passengers. South takes inour part of the Island and I think in total the south trip is a 60 mile round trip. North is longer nearer 80 miles and there are probably a few detours to add to that. Cafe's are always full so no point heading to town when there is liner berthed.
