New Builds

When I first came to live in the village only 3 of these buildings would have been seen in this view. Most of these new builds are of wooden construction which is commonplace throughout the Isles.

Lovely views...but I guess it gets a bit blowey there.....do your planning laws only allow single storey buildings?

Curious with water on both sides have you had any tides that come up over to threaten these houses.

@cutekitty there are three at the back that are two storey. With plenty room available for big sites there is scope for large floor area on one level.

@joansmor these houses have no worries when it comes tides. There are some areas where higher sea levels could cause a problem in future years.

Its very interesting to see the landscape of the Shetland islands - such a remote place in my mind, but perhaps that is only because I live so far away and know little of it. I have a friend visiting there later this year.
