November? by lifeat60degrees

November?

While the temperature confirmed the time of year, as it was frosty in parts all day, it was non-stop sunshine and little wind for a November day.

In this shot we have the Gilbert Bain Hospital (GBH) and also the Lerwick Health Centre. Just on the far left is the site for a proposed Premier Inn in Lerwick.
The lack of trees just keeps amazing me. Is this because it is too windy?

@joansmor Trees do survive here but they have to be carefully planted in sheltered areas. The lack of naturally growing trees will be a combination of the wind and also the salty air. Nowhere is more than 3 miles from the sea so there is very little natural shelter. I have a number of trees in the garden but once they get above shelter height of buildings walls etc they just stop growing. My sycamores tend to be wider than they are tall!!
