Looking after the south entrance to Lerwick Harbour is the Bressay Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1858 and I remember when I first came to Shetland and rented a room in Lerwick you could hear the foghorn quite clearly when it was foggy which was quite often. Not sure when the foghorn was silenced but it was in the 1980's
