Lichen

The garden has taken a bit of a battering this winter so far but the Lichen don't seem to mind as there seems to be a lot more.

Lichen is awesome --- I am an environmental educator and this is poem I use to help kids remember lichesn:
Annie Algae & Freddy Fungus met one day
And they took a likin' (lichen) to one another
Sadly their relationship went out on a limb
And ended up on the rocks

The poem stresses the symbiotic relationship of algae and fungus and it also stresses where lichen can be found ---growing on trees and rocks.
