Two years ago today I lost my dad. He was a staunch environmentalist, a musician and just a guy who hated yard work. He wrote a song called “Every Weed’s a Flower”. Following are a few of the lyrics:
"Every weed’s a flower.
A flower yes indeed.
So pretty by the roadside,
But in my yard it’s just a weed.
Dandelions smile at us in springtime.
Violets are delicate, blue and nimble.
Queen Ann’s Lace is tall and complicated,
A daisy is Mother Nature’s symbol.”
I snapped this close-up of a dandelion in my yard yesterday and when I put it on my computer, I was surprised at how pretty and delicate it is. So this one’s for you Dad. I should never have doubted you.
What a great tribute to your dad. The photo is excellent! He was quite a song writer too! I hope the beauty of the dandelion and your dad's special talents were a gift of comfort to you. His legacy lives on in your talent as well.
Your dad sounds like he was a wonderful man...love the little except from his song. Who knew that the dandelion has such delicate little tendrils...very nice...
It's a lovely way to honor your dad today, Lisa. It's a great photo, too. I didn't realize how "frilly" a dandelion is, I've never taken the time to really look...
@denisedaly@bill_d Thank you! @bobfoto Wow, I never thought about every stranger being a friend you haven’t met. I really love that, and I know my dad would agree. His time as a patient in the hospital was often spend quizzing every doctor, nurse or orderly about themselves. @lrappa@olivetreeann@robinwarner@missyrosebee@mrssmith@pegbarr@erikadee Thank you for your kind and uplifting words. Last year I cried half the day, but this year I’m just grateful.
Vale to your Father.
