I’m so excited to post my first capture of a hummingbird. I believe it is a female ruby-throated hummingbird. I took the day off and spent it at my friend’s house lunching, talking, and wandering around her property taking a few pictures. It was hard to decide which picture to post, but ultimately my excitement over my first hummingbird shot won out.
Had to fave this , you rocked the shot girl. I don't know if you saw my post on them, but look the facts about this guy up on the net and it is amazing how for they fly.
Wow I'm so jealous. It's gorgeous!! I have a hummingbird that won't even consider going to my hummingbird feeder but the plants around it...and I haven't been able to get a photo yet :) Great job!
Fantastic!! Yes- it's a female Ruby Throated (the male gets the ruby throat and she gets the irredescent green back). I get them both at my feeder, but don't have the camera to captrue them on "film". You shot this perfectly! It deserves to be the shot of the day!
Love your shot! We have Anna's Hummingbirds here in California. I recently put out a feeder and have attracted one. So far my shots of it are really bad, but I have hope! They are just so fun and not very timid for such little things.
@bobfoto Thank you! I'm so flattered that you of a people should be envious given the fact that you have quite the collection of wonderful photos of the wonderful critters with which we share this planet. It is I who should be (and am) envious!
@bobfoto Your bird photos are amazing. You have quite a variety of exotic look birds in Australia. How on earth to you manage to track so many down and get photos? I've got to learn how to sneak up on wildlife.
@lisjam1 - Thanks Lisabell. Education is your friend here. Buy a good bird-book, learn how to identify and practise with your camera. The more you look, the more you will see.
