We have a huge gaming convention in our city every year. People come from all over to play games. To be honest I assumed the games were all video games, but I saw a segment on CBS Sunday Morning that featured the convention and learned it’s not about video games at all. They featured several popular games, and I quickly jotted some names down. Settlers of Catan was one of them and it got rave reviews on Amazon so I trotted down to a local game store and bought it yesterday. Much to my delight my kids and their friends have taken over control of the kitchen table and have been playing it almost non-stop ever since! It’s wonderful to see them interacting and laughing with one another instead of glued to a computer or television. I think next year I’m going to go to the Gen Con convention myself and find out what it’s all about.
Nice, brings back memories of when I was a kid. we used to play board games all the time.. and so glad my son enjoys them now too, although as I type he is playing WII, last night we played chutes and ladders for the 100th time in a row.. lol
It is sad that so many of the old style table games are not interesting enough for our younger generation, but it seems that once they begin to play them, they are not as bad as they thought.
I've never heard of that game, but it looks interesting. The kids sure look like they are having fun! I'll have to see what it's all about... great capture of a fun memory, for sure.
