Today I went back to my dad’s hometown to snoop around. He graduated from Knightstown High School in 1958 and played basketball in the very gym that was used in the movie “Hoosiers”. Growing up I visited Knightstown several times a year to see my grandparents, but I have never been inside the now somewhat famous gym. It’s incredibly well preserved, and the town has made it a shrine to the movie although it still gets used regularly as a community center. Business was slow today so we got a personal (and lengthy) tour. It was really cool to remember the scenes in the movie and relate them to what I was seeing today. Even better, though, was imagining my dad ascending the locker room stairs in his Converse high tops to play for his own high school team.
Nice shot! That was a good movie too. I've heard stories about my dad in high school. He wasn't much of an athlete, but apparently he did get into trouble a few times in the science lab- even blowing a part of it up once. I attended Jr. High in the school he called the High School- so I'd often imagine him in the classrooms along with my aunts and uncle who also attended there. Fun memories for you. Have you ever tried getting a hold of his year book? It would probably be like looking at a scene from the movie! Great shot Lisa!
