It’s a gray, dreary day so I thought a black and white photo was appropriate. I finally decided to roast a turkey I’ve had in the freezer since last Thanksgiving! Since I’m making a turkey I decided I may as well go ahead and make mashed potatoes and gravy. And that lead to the thought that while I’m at it a pumpkin pie is pretty easy to throw together. Poor Bill walked in and got so excited and asked if I was also going to make his mom’s dressing balls. I’m nice, but I’m not that nice. I don’t need a trial run for an entire Thanksgiving dinner so I had to break the news to him that I was not. Besides, they’re reserved for the real holiday. That’s what makes them so special. (And what do eggs have to do with any of this? Nothing really except I used some in the pumpkin pie.)
I always end up leaving the turkey in the freezer too! Sorry about your gray day- it's starting to cloud over now, but we had a nice sunny patch at noon. Eggcellent shot.
I like it! Black and white is always so good at showing off contrast and lighting in ways you don't get as well in color photos. The egg-shapes really set that off nicely. :) And I'm jealous you weren't cooking at my house today... mmm.... mashed potatoes and gravy....
Marvelous shot! Your dinner sounds fabulous! I bet your house smelled amazing this afternoon with that turkey roasting. Mmmmmm!!! I'm printing off that recipe for dressing balls ~ looks delicious! I can see why Bill was hoping for a total preview to Thanksgiving. :)
@steveh Lol, it does sound like a fancy dance! Dressing balls are just turkey dressing shaped into balls and baked. I had never seen anything like them before I had my first Thanksgiving with my husband’s family.
Nice B & W. Like the perspective. I printed out the recipe. My family always fights over the dressing for Thanksgiving. Perhaps they would like this recipe. It looks like a nice recipe.
