For the last several days, there has been an enormous wolf spider (like this one https://365project.org/ljmanning/365/2021-04-23) making a web in the Butterfly Weed. Today we discovered it wasn’t a web, it’s a nest. To make a home for these dozens and dozens of baby spiders. It’s the stuff of nightmares. 😳
I have never known of wolf spiders to make a nest like this. Fascinating. It is nightmarish to come across so many spiders in one place. Hopefully they leave the nest, and move far away.
