I have watched and waited for the African Tulip Tree to start to bloom.
The original collage pod has not flowered. http://365project.org/loey5150/365/2010-06-03
However, the one beside it has.
I have kept a photo diary on it and almost missed these.
One day nothing - then in the next 2 days these flowers.
They are amazing - so colourful!
Without our friends on 365 we would miss so much of the beauty.
needless to say i have never seen a tulip tree. it's gorgeous. thanks for keeping an eye on it to share this magnificent flowering tree with us.
Interesting that you have the "black bean" tree.... your comment came in my e-mail but didn't arrive on 365 page! Odd.... glad I saw it. 35 feet in 35 years.... well, by the time I'm 95 I probably won't worry too much about the height of the tree!!
These are gorgeous in bloom! I feel lucky to be part of such a diverse group. We get to see all kinds of things through each other's photos that most of us wouldn't otherwise be able to experience.
The tulip tree is planted by the local city council on most of out footbaths around Brisbane. I agree with the rest of them Lois you have missed your vocation. You could make a calendat with these shots. Stunning!
I have been waiting for the final shot - well done. Great collage. Oddly enough there is an african tulip tree in my neighbours garden which I have not noticed until now!
That's beautiful, and I was too impatient to see what the fully blossomed clusters look like...I went to google! Without you taking a picture, I don't believe I'd ever be aware of these trees. I wonder if they grow in Hawaii... Even if they do, I'm only learning abut them now; thanks for keeping a photo diary!
