Today Bernie & I went to visit our dear friend of 30 years, Wilhemina Overall at "Seabreeze" at a nursing home at Pottsville.
She is 103 years young.
We took this photo of her with her daughter Jan.
She has only recently had to move there because she broke her ankle, & she told us that this had "slowed her down" a bit now.
She still has a great sense of humour & is a delight to talk to.
Just before she went to tea, Jan gave her, her lipstick to put on & afterwards, Jan said "that looks good Mum", Wilhemina replied, "well I've had about 100 years of practice", this really made us laugh.
I marvel at the things she must have seen in her lifetime.
She told us that she has had a wonderfully happy life.
She told us that her parents were the most loving people & that her husband was a kind man and she was always surrounded by love and that is what has kept her alive.
She speaks of how lucky she is to have Jan look after in her own home for so long.
"Overall Drive" in Pottsville NSW was named after her family.
She is truly a lovely person.
Just thought to share her with you all.
If we are loved, this proves it can make all the difference in one's life.
She is a precious sight, and she looks great for 103, and I am sure she would have a bunch of stories to share. I love sitting and listening to the precious ones.
Just want to wish this lady happy birthday ... When she was born the Internet was not even a thought in anyone's head , to think of all the things she has witnessed is amazing I hope she continues on enjoying herself for many more birthdays .... Lovely shot
What an amazing woman...too bad she had to brake her ancle which slowed her down. I hope they treat her well in the nursing home and that she has many many more birthdays.
@bruni - thanks so much. she is not well at the moment. I was talking to her daughter & she said she had a stomach virus.
