What is that smell? by loey5150

What is that smell?

Today we noticed an awful smell & could not figure out where it was coming from.
We both decided it must be a dead possum in the roof - ugh!
Bernie climbed up on the roof & took the sheeting off to find the source of this "awful smell".
4 hours & a lot of roof panels later, he found a dead large bush rat.
It had climbed the overhanging trees & got into the roof space through a loose piece of sheeting.
The last 4 months have been the wettest Queensland has seen in many decades. This has forced a lot of vermin to seek dry warm places to live, entering places they would not normally. We live at the back of a large shopping centre, which does not help.
Quite a few possums try to live under our house too & Bernie does a possum "run" every morning.
Don't want to go through that again :(
The joys of life !!!!! :D
Tomorrow will be spent cutting the trees & shrubs back.

My photos reflect my day & its happenings. That is why you see so many interesting & uninteresting photos. :D
Ugh, what a task! At least he found the source of the smell. Hopefully that doesn't happen again!

Oh... yuk.... reminds me of the time I had to pick up the dead bird out of your backyard, Mum. It was dead and I had to remove it. I tell ya: never again will I ever do that! It was a sickening sight and smell!

Skunks are bothersome on the Cape, in Vermont we have tiny red squirrels that poke their way in through holes in our rock foundation. Yes,,,Oh bother!
