Just one minute after I took the Nassau Harbor Lighthouse photo, the ship was well underway and I turned and took this photo that showed what tourism can do for an island. The Atlantis resort is on the left of the lighthouse and the cruise piers are on the right. Tourism is Nassau's main industry, followed closely by the legal profession. Honestly there was a law firm on every corner, it seems Nassau and the Bahamas are international tax havens. I'm posting this in my secondary album for comparison to the lighthouse photo. The lighthouse is taller than it looks, it's 69' tall.
Good comparison photo. You were definitely in the right place to get your wonderful shot of the waves. This one is good too just different perspective.
Wow what a difference! It seems such a shame that this happens to such a beautiful place! It's the way of the world though isn't it when they get their money from tourism?
@onewing Nassau has 3 cruise piers, there were 5 ships in port that day, just a huge business really. I had the feeling the cruise lines were king of the mountain for Nassau.
@beryl Thank you! @happysnaps Maybe too many cruise ships, smile. @nicolecampbell It was spring break week and between the cruise ships and the college students who had flown in to lay on the beaches, Nassau was pretty wild!
